COOPER
My name is Cooper. I am a year and a half and was living a fabulously spoiled life in a Downtown Denver condo with my owner. He brought me to the Downtown Dog and Cat when he would travel because I love it so much and have many pals there. On this last trip, though, he never came to pick me up. I waited a couple weeks and still nothing. It turns out, my owner was in a drowning accident and didn't make it. My owners family members couldn't keep me, so the Downtown Dog and Cat and New Hope Cattle Dog Rescue were kind enough to take me under their wings and are trying to find me a great, loving home. I am very loyal, loving and a bit of a lap dog. I don't get along well with cats, so my new home needs to be cat free. I love older kids, about eight and up. I am great in the car, I love to snuggle under the covers, and am known to hop in the shower from time to time with my foster mom. I will jump into your arms and love long walks. I would make a great additon to your family if given the oppertunity and a little time. No cats, please.

ABBY
Abby is a beautiful, brilliant 7 month old blue heeler. She is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. She is housetrained, but is still a puppy so she can chew if bored. She loves her stuffed animals, and loves to play ball. She is quite active and like most cattle dogs needs an active person who will keep her mind and body busy. She is such a snuggler and love. She loves people and is a great snuggler. She does well with other dogs but is an alpha female with other females. She needs a patient owner who will work with her, as she is still a pup and has a lot to learn. Please contact newfylove@yahoo.com.

TRINKETT
She is really sweet and has really kind eyes. She is a really affectionate dog and just wants to cuddle up on the couch. I think she would do great with a family with no other dogs just to be on the safe side or at least maybe one other dog because she really loves to play and does excellent with small dogs.
Contact Lynn at sacredblessings@yahoo.com if you can help Trinkett.

BLUE
I am looking to find a new home for our Blue Heeler – “Blue”. .He’s been an awesome dog minus one character flaw (i.e. desire to attack and hurt young dogs). Blue is just over 2 yrs of age and gets along very well with people of all ages, not to mention our 2 cats. He has been neutered and microchipped and is in good health. My girls ( 5 & 6) adore him and he’s never acted aggressively towards them even when they pull on his ears, tail, or try to ride him like a pony. Basically, he’s very people friendly. He’s also very well behaved with adult dogs no matter the size (Chihuahua -> Great Dane).
For some reason or another, and I’ve received many theories from animal behaviorists, humane societies, animal control, cattle dog rescue personnel, he has been and is extremely aggressive towards young dogs < 2yrs. I’ve tried various means of stemming the behavior, but the last attack which occurred a week ago has left my wife and I with very few alternatives. We were cited before when he attacked a puppy in our neighborhood 6 months ago and (beyond the fines and conditions we’ve had to abide by), an incident occurred last week with another young dog. Fortunately, the injuries to the dog were minor and our neighbor friends were very understanding.
While we love our dog Blue, if an incident were to occur again with people we were not friends with, then animal control would have Blue euthanized. This is not something that I would ever want to happen and I appreciate to be contacted by someone responsible and willing to adopt a very loving and devoted dog.
Blue needs in an environment where he can get the exercise and activity he needs on the property he lives on. A small yard in a busy suburban neighborhood isn't best for him.
Please contact aholsomback@gmail.com if you can help.

BOSS
Hi, my name is Buddy! I'm a 3.5 yr old, 65-70 lb, neutered red heeler mutt. I was rescued when I was 2 - 3 months old. and I am fantastic. Unfortunately, my owner just can't keep me anymore. I'm completely housetrained. I'm a little bit of a dumpster diver, but as long as it is out os sight, it is out of mind. I'm a quick learner. If you can give me a good home, email my present owner at grschiavino@yahoo.com.

MIKA
Hi, my name is Mika! My name is an Native American name that means "Clever Raccoon" which describes me perfectly! I am extremely intelligent and very focused - and I have an adorable raccoon mask. I am an assistance dog, with Public Access Certification. I have been trained as a hearing dog, though with some fresh training I can help you with other types of assistance, as well. I am a one-person dog, meaning I am friendly with all adults (kids make me nervous!), but I am completely dedicated to MY person. This is typical of my breed, as we were bred to working closely with a cowboy-owner herding cattle. Also typical of my breed, I love having a "job" - I like having a purpose, particularly when it requires me to work closely with the human I am trained to assist. Sadly, the person who adopted me and trained me as a hearing dog is pursuing her lifelong dream of doing non-profit work in Third World countries. Because of the constant travel and the threat of exposing me to real! ly nasty zoological diseases, she thinks it would be better for me to have a permanent, loving home with someone who will appreciate my assistance. It's a hard decision, but I know she wants what's best for me. I have been trained to do sound alerts for: the telephone, alarm clock, kitchen/laundry timer, door knocks and the fire alarm. Because I am so smart, though, and a bit of a workaholic, I would love to learn some new tricks that I can use in your home and office. My basic obedience is pretty good (though I pull an awful lot on my leash) - and I can even "play dead"! As a certified assistance dog, I am accustomed to being taken to work with my person - for awhile that was an office (where I slept under the desk), and for awhile it was a retail store, where I had a bed to sleep on when I wasn't greeting customers. Since I am Public Access Certified, when I am helping someone with a disability, I can go in any place where the general public is allowed, though most of the! time I stay in the car during errands because I am happiest there. Other dogs bother me, though I have lived with housemate dogs many times. I have also lived with three cats, but I would prefer to be the only animal in your home - especially because the cats don't like it when I try to herd them! I am an Australian Cattle Dog (A.K.A. blue heeler), though I'm a former shelter dog, so not much is known about my history before 2 years old. I am about 7 now, and while I was once a typical high-energy herding dog, I've settled down alot. I love hiking, backpacking, running, and going for car rides, but when I'm at home or work I am pretty lazy. I am a spayed female, am current on my vaccinations, and have never had any health problems. If you think you have a job for me in your home and a place for me in your heart, please contact my person, Kat Jahnigen, 303-908-9904, kjahnigen@lycos.com, and youcan meet me!

CASSIE
She is a great dog when she is indoors. When she is outside however, she can be quite aggressive and has actually attacked neighborhood dogs (when provoked), and barks quite loudly at anyone coming to the house. This has become annoying to the point of being quite disturbing to me. I know she is just guarding the house, but I don't know if I can handle this much longer. She developed blood in her urine sometime back. It seemed to clear up when we gave her penicillin shots but it left her with the urge to urinate constantly. She leaks on the carpet often. We do not at this time have the funds to take her to the vet. Cassie also can jump the front fence and tends to run off. Our Instant Fence collar doesn't always work. She supposedly has killed some of the neighbor's chickens and geese but that hasn't been proved yet since they live next to a structure which houses foxes. They are threatening to sue us. I think we just need someone to take her who has the time and money to give her the attention she needs. Please contact needhisgrace@yahoo.com
